You're right, I had the old Flamestudios page saved for easy revisit, I opened it ok (ha ha) but when I selected the Gig files I went to the same page noe one can see..... games , poker ect.... tsk tsk.
I got some of them stored, but not use them anymore, many problems.... most of them not properly tuned, ie you play the bass E and one oct up is out of tune or so and in some samples there are recorded noises from the taker's environtment.... especially if you play a chord and leave it fade away.
You can find better gig samples in GigaSamples website (free) by John Griffin (former worra's place) along with other goodies, John did a great work collecting and/or creating.
Also the guitars included into Crisis GM made as gig (see relavent post here) are far better to use.
There is a general drop down for giga samples nowadays in favor of other formats, indeed. LS in Linux OS has the sfz engine option and this lifts off LS to a far greater area of quality libraries. I hope we can have this sfz engine option in win7 OS soon.
I also did some gig translations of some good instruments from other formats and planning to upload for all here to enjoy and add to their libraries. Stay tuned , I'm workin' on gettin' my site together.
Crisis GM library in gig format and John Griffin's place, are the best solution for a ready to use non homemade (ours with gig edit) sourse of instuments for LS on windows systems (gig Crisis is far better than the original sf2 one)
Have fun !
