Can't add WAV samples to gigedit

I've got everything compiled nicely, and Gigedit starts fine, but when I go to add a sample (WAV file) I get the following error message:
Could not add the following sample(s):
/path/to/sample/Sample.wav (format not supported)
With /path/to/sample of course being the path to my sample file. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? I'm under the impression that WAV files are the *only* format supported, as they're the only ones that show up. Was I missing some header files when I compiled libgig?
