Simple Sampler
Hello,
I am a newbie and I have installed Linuxsampler at the 1st time.
I have used Fantasia.jar and it works very well. But waht I want is a simple, simple, sampler.
What it must do
simplest gui
reading GIG samples
using lscp format
authomathic instrument settings.
I will use it for my program Live-Styler (www.live-styler.us) as output
device. Thats mean, I load a midifile, the sampler sets authomatically the instruments
and this midfile can now play all the wonderfull GIG soundfonts.
Gui simple as ForteDXi
Is this possible?
Is this available?
Thanks for your answers.
with best regards
Norbert

Re: Simple Sampler
Hey Norbert,
For what it sounds like you want to do, I think what you need are midimaps.
This post might explain more for you.
http://bb.linuxsampler.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=319
Basically, when you have your midi maps set up and assigned to a channel, you can just send midi program changes to a particular channel and linuxsampler will change to that instrument.
Another thing you'll need is a General Midi soundset, which I think that the yamaha/roland keyboards (well, I think they use XG/GS, but for standard GM it should be fine) use. There currently is no free native giga General Midi soundset available at the moment, but I'm working on converting a 1.5GB GM soundfont over to giga format for use in linuxsampler. I hope to have the first release done by the weekend.
Andrew Coughlan.

Re: Simple Sampler
Hello,
thanks for your answer.
Sorry I didn't understand, how I can do that.
I start the LinuxSampler.exe
ok.
And then I send midi events. But how I must Linuxsampler told, which
Midi In-channel, which Midioutputport it must use. How I can Linuxsampler
give the lscp file.
If its so simple, then this is great. But I didn't understand not the operating method
at the moment.
Yamaha does use the XG standard. The most GM instruments are not compatible. But I have
all the XG instruments as GIG sample. This is not the problem.

Re: Simple Sampler
Hey Norbert,
In the Fantasia GUI, if you click on the device tab and then click on the gray button underneath the boxes marked Midi devices and Audio devices, you can create audio output ports and midi input/output ports.
My advice would be to read this http://www.linuxsampler.org/windows.html
It should make a lot more sense than what I'm saying!
Out of interest, where did you get those XG giga files?

Re: Simple Sampler
According to LinuxSampler license you cannot use it as part of a commercial product. If you are still interested perhaps you can work out another licensing terms with LS authors.Live-Styler wrote: I will use it for my program Live-Styler (http://www.live-styler.us) as output

It should be pretty easy to design any front-end of your liking and make it control LS via LSCP commands.

And this was my question. Shure, LPGL,GPL aso is not unknown for me.It should be pretty easy to design any front-end of your liking and make it control LS via LSCP commands.
But at first, before I want an other term of licensing, I must check, if
it's suitable for me, and this is out of term, right?
But I have not yet an answer on my question.

Re: Simple Sampler
I recommend you start a Linuxsampler instance, open a telnet session to it and start issuing LSCP commands. Then you will realize how easy would it be to create a very simple GUI in your app that would do the same, since you only need a minimal part of LS functionality. See:
