Build Linuxsampler for Windows XP 64-bit - Is it possible?

Post by ggoodesa » Thu Apr 23, 2009 6:16 pm

Hi,
I have succesfully built linuxsampler in WinXP 32bit using MinGW/msys. I have another computer that is running WinXP Prof 64-bit and was wondering if anyone has built linuxsampler for 64-bit Windows and if so, how they did it?
Any tips, etc. most welcome... plus speculation if no-one has done it yet ;-)

Benno wrote here in the forum that it might be possible: "As for 64bit support, an unofficial mingw version (gcc for windows) already seems to support generating 64bit binaries on WIN64 http://sourceforge.net/projects/mingw-w64/"

I hope there will be 64bit version since Reaper is 64bit, too.

I'm working on this right now. The standalone version of LS seems to be working OK (but I can't test it very well as the only 64-bit windows machine I have access to doesn't have a sound card...). The VST version crashes.

I found something that I think must be a compiler bug. I will report it to the mingw-w64 project later today.

Hmmm, So I guess I'll give mingw-w64 a go this weekend and see if I can get the standalone version up and running. I'm gald that I'm not the only one who's thinking about this - more heads will make this a bit easier to do!

I had to do some changes to make libgig and linuxsampler to compile, maybe you want to wait for me to commit them.

I should also note that I am using a cross-compiler on linux to build the w64 binaries.

Thanks Andreas,
I'll wait for you to commit the changes before I attempt anything.
