I'm trying to build another sampletekk piano, Vertikal, and facing the same problems. I found the "replace all samples" log message and got gigedit compiled out of cvs, but it crashes when trying to save, both with save and save-as. From this thread I assume that is known 2 Gig filesize issue...

So, I also downloaded this little updatebg5 utility, but it segfaults on the second gig file.

What strikes me as odd is that the gig files in Vertikal expand out of a modest sized rar to what I presume are full-size gigs... probably with null samples.

-rw-r--r-- 1 cox cox 2.0G 2005-12-06 09:18 Vertikal Pop.gx01
-rw-r--r-- 1 cox cox 2.0G 2005-12-06 09:26 Vertikal Pop.gx02
-rw-r--r-- 1 cox cox 1.1G 2005-12-06 09:30 Vertikal Pop.gx03

The first .gig file runs through updatebg5 okay, the second (.gx01) segfaults. Any ideas...

Thanks,
dave

Whoops... when I posted I had only read page-1 of this thread. Looked back at it and now I see there are three pages, the second full of good info.

So I think I understand where I'm at, I have the pre-split but empty gig files for which updatebg5 is known not to work.

A sensible person wanting to play piano would go back to Sampletekk with 10 bucks and ask for the DVD version. I might do that... but if encouraged to hack this conversion utility, or if someone knows how to remerge gx01 files into a single gig I could be talked into starting down that path.

Sampletekk seems like a good source for linuxsampler compatible files, is there a broader interest in making this work??
