Hi everyone.
Can anybody point me in the right direction to find out how to access the rear channels on my soundcard?
It's a CMI8738-MC6 and I'm running 64Studio(Debian Etch).
I want to have a second instance of jconv sending to the rear channels of my soundcard via Jack but I have very little idea how to do it. I followed some instructions I found to create a virtual device with .asoundrc which I followed. aplay -L says it is there but when I try to use it in Jack, it says it is already in use.
Any pointers would be most welcome.
Thanks
Graham
Accessing rear channels on soundcard
Re: Accessing rear channels on soundcard
I'll answer my own post (for the record) because I found out how to do it. (My apologies to those who already know this stuff.)
In qjackctrl -> setup, type 'surround41' into the "interface" box and set the output channels to 4. I'm not sure whether it is necessary but I also set it to playback only rather than duplex. This gives you access to front and rear. I assume (but have not tried) that setting the output channels to 5 will let you access the LFE channel.
If you have a 5.1 card and want to access the centre channel, use surround51 as the interface.
Cheers
