A quick update!

Stephane and the mighty team at Jackdmp, have upgraded the programme to 0.70. (A little while ago, but i've just D/L and reinstalled the 'latest' 0.70. release.)

And,
we now have Alsa midi ports 'mirrored' on the Jack midi tab, so we can now link direct, instead of starting a seperate link utility.
Here's the alsa midi tab, or 'before' shot.

And here's the same ports now showing up in the jack midi tab.

So we can now link direct, for example, if we use an alsa hw midi device (in my case, the mk-249), and we use Jack midi devices in Linuxsampler. You may also notice that the number of ports is actual, so where you might have a Timidity alsa midi 'directory' with 3 ports in it, the new feature simply counts the three ports, not the directory itself.

Many many thanks to Stephane and the team for another big step forward.

Outstanding!!

Alex.
:D

In jackdmp 0.70 version, the Jack MIDI ports (either created from ALSA seq or ALSA raw midi) have been renamed system:midi_capture_xx) for more consistent naming with AUDIO ports. This follow was is done in jackd MIDI backend. Note that all jack backend ports (audio or MIDI) may have an "alias" name, that will usually contains a more explicit name like 'Virtual Raw Midi...". "System" like names have been choosen for consistent naming across multiple platform (Linux, OSX...) so that exchanging content (Ardour session for example) will be less problematic. The alias names of jack ports can be displayed using the "jack_lsp" tool doing: jack_lsp -A

Stephane, thanks for the heads up. The terminal command suddenly makes everything a lot easier to sort out.

I continue to be impressed!
