Sample channels

Post by dahnielson » Thu Sep 04, 2008 1:09 pm

If I assign different (mono) samples to several sample channels (stereo samples normally use two sample channel dimension splits -- or whatever it's called) in a GIG instrument do they have to be of equal length?

You're speaking about layers? No the don't have to. For each layer a separate voice is spawned. So they're totally independent. Using stereo samples (and with it only one voice) however is more efficient of course.

No, I'm talking about the Sample Channel dimension type. Do LS actually support more than two zones in that dimension?

The sample channel dimension reflects the number of channels in the sample, so it is not possible to use it together with two mono samples. Max two channels are possible.
