A quick heads up.
With Alsa 0.16, and the latest Jackmp 0.72, there seems to have been a change in the alsamidi/jackmidi relationship. Alsamidi ports still work, but the jackmidi ports don't. Specimen seems to work, but other programmes don't.
I'm not sure why, but if the LS team could look at this, it might serve as an early notice to a potential change, and/or challenges.

Define "doesn't work" please!

Ok, got this one sorted out. There was a bug in jack1, which was fixed quickly, so all is well in the world again.

As an update, i'm running the second boot with jack2 from svn, and that's going well,so far.
