Re: LS Windows, polyphony and virtual organs

Hi everyone. Just thought I'd check in to say that I finally have jconv installed (boy did I learn a lot doing it!). It works VERY well and makes the organ sound realistic (at last). Now I have to get on to designing the MIDI encoders (I'm going to use the Arduino) and continue building the console....

Loading samples into RAM

Hi

Is it possible to set up LS so that the samples are loaded entirely into RAM (given that there is enough)?

My samples take just under 1gb on disk. I know it will take longer to start up but that is not an issue for me.

Alternately, wil LS stream from a RAMDisk?

Cheers

Re: LS Windows, polyphony and virtual organs

Hi everyone Just an update. I've installed 64 Studio without any major problems. I managed to install WINE and my Virtual Organ. I connected everything with Jack and added JackRack for reverb as well. It all works beautifully. The sound is much cleaner and more detailed than under Windows (on the sa...

Re: LS Windows, polyphony and virtual organs

I have another question for someone. I'm using the medium sized Miditzer and I'm at the limits of polyphony with the Windows version of LS. There is a larger model of Miditzer that I would like to use in the future. Is there any chance that the Windows version will have it's polyphony increased to 4...

Re: LS Windows, polyphony and virtual organs

Ok I got it, but latency is awfull. Downloading Gentoo linux. Why not start with Ubuntu Studio which has everything installed apart from WINE to run Miditzer? I might also add that I was wrong about ASIO4ALL which runs happily alongside ReaRoute. It's not much use but it's there! Do you have a late...

Re: LS Windows, polyphony and virtual organs

I inserted a new track, I clicked on the meters and went to Stereo input. I clicked on Rearoute 1 and 2, I then minimised Reaper, then loaded LS, it shows registered audio output driver asio. I load fantasia and it says can't find any card. I just reinstalled my OS today to clean it up. I then relo...

Re: Files on USB drive

Thanks Anders.

That's about what I thought so I grabbed a cheap ($12) 512Mb drive. It performed flawlessly! My files total about 350Mb for this particular organ so I can avoid buying a new HD for now. ;)

I'm loving this program!

Thanks to everyone involved.

Cheers

Re: LS Windows, polyphony and virtual organs

Did you have Reaper up and running with a track set to use ReaRoute as input before you started LS? That must be done or the ReaRoute driver does not exist. Try a fresh start by rebooting and set Reaper up first.

Files on USB drive

Probably a really stupid question but can I use LS with gig files on a USB2 thumb drive rather than on my HD?

Re: LS Windows, polyphony and virtual organs

What kind of hardware do you use ? (CPU, RAM, HD RPM (5400,7200 etc) ? it could be that the limit is given by your hardware, usually LS on Windows is quite efficient, under high polyphony load I had less dropouts and clicks than using NI Kontakt. My tests usually consist in playing classical piano ...
