Re: Need help installing LS & friends in UbuntuStudio Gutsy.
Of course you can remove it. I'm not at Debian box ATM, but something like apt-get remove foopackage --force or something equivalent with dpkg directly should do it. I don't think that would seriously hurt anything regarding the ubuntu studio package. But once you want to do an upgrade of your distr...

Re: Need help installing LS & friends in UbuntuStudio Gutsy.
For now you could also just build LS by yourself and leave the ones coming with Ubuntu on your box. But in that case you need to grab the appropriate LS version in order to be able to compile it against your libgig version. I have no idea which libgig version they're using exactly. Maybe the Ubuntu ...

Re: Sometimes notes don't play when playing live
I can't tell you much about why it doesn't alway play it, since I don't know how the instrument exactly looks like. It heavily depends on what kind of dimensions are defined for that particular key / "region", how those dimensions are splitted and the setting for each one of those resulting "cases".

Re: gigedit compile on debian with latest glib
Uhm... looking at the libraries it tries to link, why is it heavily linking against libraries under /usr/local? I thought you're using Debian Etch. Am I right that you compiled a lot of these libraries yourself, the classical "make ; make install" way?

Re: Need help installing LS & friends in UbuntuStudio Gutsy.
Thanks for the reply. I have looked into the Deb package build guide and it is quite a bit over my head. I would enjoy tackling it with some help, though. Firstly, do I need to uninstall libgig6, liblscp, and qsampler in synaptic? They are currently installed on my system. If I check them for remov...

Re: Sometimes notes don't play when playing live
Not really. If you see the following in qsamplers configure output: LSCP channel MIDI event support . . . . . . . . .: yes LSCP device MIDI event support . . . . . . . . . .: yes it should be fine. Maybe you don't use latest linuxsampler CVS version? What version does LS print out on the console?

Re: Sometimes notes don't play when playing live
First I would suggest to check whether the respective note on actually arrives. Latest CVS version of liblscp & QSampler supports a green MIDI indicator LED for each channel strip which will flash up on note on / note off events. If the note on really arrives, you may want to investigate the gig ins...

Re: midi cc messages from another programme.
The gig engine currently supports the following hard coded Standard MIDI CCs: 5 - Portamento Time 7 - Volume 10 - Panpot 64 - Sustain 65 - Portamento On / Off 66 - Sostenuto 120 - All Sound Off 121 - Reset All Controllers 123 - All Notes Off 126 - Mono Mode On (=Poly Mode Off) 127 - Poly Mode On (=M...

Re: FX Sends ?
For now I "fixed" all MIDI drivers so they dispatch all bank select messages as ordinary control change messages as well. One might really misuse bank selects that way, because as long as no program change follows, the bank select has no meaning.

Re: FX Sends ?
That was the problem. Perhaps #0 ought not to be listed in the drop-down menu ? I think it's reserved for the MIDI Instrument function. Anyway, I thought I had tried it with another controller, but I think it was #7, which might also be reserved in Fantasia (instrument volume control). Oh well. Tha...
