Re: Synthesizing impulse responses
Could light refraction formale be used? Although light is faster than sound they are still waveforms.

Re: Ideas on interface design (thread name changed)
Definately check out the AN1X then. A sampler based on how that works would be very flexiblle and very powerful. The only reason the AN1X isn't as revered as much as other synths is because it wasn't covered in buttons, knobs and sliders. http://www.yamahasynth.com/products/an1x/ Yamaha never seem t...

Re: Maybe we're going about this the wrong way
Ive always loved the way how the AN1X handled sounds. Your frame idea sounds slot like scenes of the AN1X

If memory serves you can load without having a AN1X connected.

Re: How to sample
Thank You, brilliant post Anders
Have you tried making a fat client based studio?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat_client
You could have your diskless computer in the studio and the noisy horse-power computer in another room.

Re: Suggestion, a port and channel switcher.
+100
Being able to make sounds on the fly without opening a sequencer would be very cool. Im getting a Behringer BCR2000 to use with LinuxSampler only. Separating the input midi channels from direct connection to instruments would make LS insanely powerful to use.
