Re: mp3 support for gigedit?

Linuxsampler supports wav, ogg, flac (maybe others I forgot). I would recommend writing new instruments using SFZ rather than Gigasampler format. Gigasampler is no longer developed and SFZ is an open format being actively developed in linuxsampler. Unfortunately, I do not know of any common place to...

Re: Help with installation, please

If you use Ubuntu I recommend installing linuxsampler (and other music software) from the kxstudio repositories: http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/

Re: Maestro Concert Grand recommended system requirements

Your system should be fine. Linuxsampler demands little CPU, but more memory always helps. 3G should be fine for Maestro Concert Grand. By the way, salamander grand, a free SFZ piano, is much better than Maestro IMO:

Re: Multiple CPU cores

Do you find CPU usage of LS to be a problem? I find that LS uses very little CPU, especially compared to synths. But I typically do not load a many instruments, though I sometime use large samples (6GB Black Grand piano). In my experience, making LS multi-core does not appear to be a high priority.

Re: Legato playing with wind controllers?

iI do not know the answer to your question but this seems to be the definitive reference: http://www.linuxsampler.org/api/draft-l ... tocol.html
LS will play SF2 files (if compiled from SVN) so you could try it out and see how it does with a wind controller.

Re: Need help installing LS & friends in UbuntuStudio Gutsy.

For whatever reason liblscp is done like this: make -f Makefile.svn (there is no Makefile.cvs for liblscp).

Re: What's the best SampleTekk format for compatibility?

My experience with Sampletekk is the the GS3 version of Black Grand plays very well in linuxsampler (on AVLinux). I had to get the DVD set because the GS3 version is not available for download (which I think is pretty lame). Also if you order send them an email and make sure they know you want the G...

The OpenOctave people have a nice tutorial on Linuxsampler which might help you: https://github.com/ccherrett/oom/wiki/Linuxsampler

Re: 1) USB MIDI connection 2) LADSPA necessary?

As a linux user I cannot help you with your Windows midi setup, but I know about Ldaspa. Ldaspa is an open-source plugin standard (like VST) which was developed for Linux. I think the error message is harmless - it means you do not have a Ladspa plugins folder. I don't quite understand this message ...
