Aha, I have got the sustain pedal working now. I discovered that the sustain pedal works as long as one key is held down. If you remove the last note, the sound stops, even if the pedal is held down. So, to get the sustain pedal working in a normal fashion one has to make sure one key is always down...

Thank you for your response. I infer from your answer that perhaps I need to enable the sustain pedal in the SFZ file and/or LinuxSampler via "FX sends".
