Re: How to work with many gig files

Have you gotten Linuxsampler to work with just 1 gig file?, that is have you configured the audio/midi correctly with linuxsampler? I'm a linux user so I do not know the specific issues with Windows setup, but I wondered if you tried a simple setup first. Also, out of curiosity, where did you get 11...

Re: Midi keyboard + Linuxsampler + SalamanderGrandPiano

I think you need to edit QJackCtl to use the correct parameters -> use the Setup panel. From your printout above QJackCtl is starting jackd like this: /usr/bin/jackd -n(voreinst.) -r -ddummy -r22050 -p16 . You are telling it to use the "dummy" device with a 22.05 kHz sample rate, 16 periods/buffer -...

Re: LS doesn't find midi and audio drivers/devices

I recently tried linuxsampler in kxstudio 12.04 and got the same error. I tend to think LS is broken on kxstudio 12.0.4 but I have not pursued it because I mostly use AVLinux (where LS works fine). Perhaps the error should be reported to the kstudio forum at linuxmuscians: http://www.linuxmusicians....

Re: Reduce / identify latency in Linux sampler

From your description it is not clear you are using Jack (http:/ou /jackaudio.org/) which is a sound server for linux for professional audio work and which allows to set the latency (within the limit of your hardware). Generally, a latency below 10ms will not be noticable. The Ardour tutorial explai...

Re: Bizarre issue - random WAV samples in valid SFZ not playing

I can only give you very general advice, not being a LS developer, and because I use LS on linux. At any rate, is there any way capture some kind of console or other error messages on Windows? For example, in Fantasia there is a console window that can be opened to show diaganostic messages. I also ...

Re: Multiple instruments in one sfz file (GM Compatible sfz)

I don't know the answer to your question, but the SFZ format is documented here:
http://www.cakewalk.com/DevXchange/article.aspx?aid=108

and linuxsampler implementation is documented here:

Re: sfz and flac files

I suggest sending an email to the linuxsampler developer's list - see https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/lis ... pler-devel. I don't think the developers look at this forum very much, but I've gotten good response from the email list.

Re: At low latencies, trying to open Gigedit crashes LS

Well.. every system has a latency limit depending on your hardware/software setup. Seems like you've hit the limit for your system. Why do you need to run gigaedit with such ultra-low latency (2.9 ms) anyway? I would think low latencies are only needed for live performance. I usually run linuxsample...

Re: Aargh! Help an ignorant newbie! (me)

Linuxsampler will play sounds from loaded sample banks (gigafile, SFZ, or SF2 format) using midi signals (from a midi keyboard or from a midi sequencer program). Here are some good references for linuxsampler: http://wootangent.net/2011/07/everything-you-always-wanted-to-know-about-linuxsampler/ htt...

Re: sfz and flac files

According to the linuxsampler documentation only wav, ogg, and aiff are supported:
https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id ... 3d8948aa6d

You'd have to make a feature request to try to get flac support.
