Re: Drumkits

nicop,

have you tried using multiple channels, one for each sound? Then apply an FX to each channel.

Re: Which LADSPA FX would you add to a LS plugin?

Luis, i'm not using compressors for my orchestral stuff, but i'd make a case for the C*EQ in ladspa as a potential candidate. Comes in mono and stereo, and does a good job of sorting out my somewhat boomy Contrabasses. I have to do this for each project, so to have it at sampler level and saved as p...

Re: Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra - CC-licensed sample library

West, nice job. As a long time user of sf2's before i bought some nice gig libraries, i still have a nostalgic moment every now and then for the "old" methods, but SFZ succeeds where sf2 doesn't, as a format. Great to see Sonatina up and running, and i would hope LS users will enjoy using this lib s...

Re: "Assigning instrument" crash?

Corniger, yes, it's worthwhile leaving the backend running.

LS is a server, and obeys commands sent to it by clients.

p.s. I'm all native linux here, so i'm not sure of the peculiarities of win, and what else you might need to do.

Re: multiple samples on one key

Anechoic, i'm not a big gigedit user, but in order to set velocity layers for one key, have you had a look at the SFZ format? The engine in LS is fast taking shape, and SFZ is fairly easy to setup. Might be a good alternative for you.

Re: New application: QMIDICurves

Chris, this one slipped me by, but i've downloaded it for a look. I've visited your site, and noticed Qmidicurves is jack based. (which is good) I'm not going to use a2jmidid for this, but instead use OOM2 to route the midi keyboard out of OOM2, into Qmidicurves as a jack input, then back into OOM2 ...

Re: Setting up General MIDI

Roland, LS does support bank and program changes in a channel.

Given the structure of Reaper, and the fact it's been some time since i used it (all native linux here now), it's correct that for each midi track/plugin you create, you get 16 "child" tracks.

Re: Which LADSPA FX would you add to a LS plugin?

Luis, good to see you're considering improving ls16.
I can't speak for anyone else, but i'd say adding ladspa functionality would be a good thing.

Re: OpenOctaveMidi2 (OOM2)

As a quick update, we're fairly close to releasing OOM2 as relatively stable, having spent considerable effort to squash quite a few bugs, and get some important additional features implemented. For those who are interested, our git repo has the latest commits as of this evening.

Re: Linuxsampler without a frontend

At OpenOctaveProject, running Ls from the terminal is more or less default behaviour. Once a frontend like fantasia has been used to build our large orchestral templates, then the cat command is run from inside a script, which starts not only LS, but jack, and oomidi as well. Good to see someone els...
