Re: A draft whitepaper of my parameterization idea
Sweet! It sounds like I'm finally figuring out how to communicate all of this. In other words, you got it. :) Part of the problem is my descriptions are mixing up all of the different layers: engine, Omnibus (what a great name), and interface. At this point, it might be best to describe each in deta...

Re: A draft whitepaper of my parameterization idea
Well, by "Melodyne-inspired", I'm referring to the way that Melodyne visualizes the wave data, the big difference being we won't really have the same kind of time dimension. The same way they do it would work great for a sampler. (By the way, did you know Peter Neubäcker is an ex-Csound guy?) Of cou...

Re: A draft whitepaper of my parameterization idea
I definitely wasn't thinking of doing this with a network editor, though that does make for a nice way to patch modular functions together. Again, Dave Robillard's FlowCanvas might be the ticket: http://wiki.drobilla.net/FlowCanvas -- I even thought about how to use FlowCanvas as a way of making FAU...

Re: A draft whitepaper of my parameterization idea
What would represent the input in the block syntax? I assume y could be implied as output by assignment or should there be named outputs (the y itself implies an output in all transfer function blocks)? I assume the later. I simply used x and y for convenience. Those are the typical variables for t...

Re: A draft whitepaper of my parameterization idea
OmniBus! We'll make a buzzworder out of you yet! :D If I can finally get some discussion on the ideas themselves going, allow me to be my own worst critic for a minute: throw out most everything written in the current draft of the paper, and let's start from these basic ideas: 1) Control signals are...

Re: A draft whitepaper of my parameterization idea
I want to get something off of my chest. I put a lot of work into this paper, trying to solve problems with the logic of making this work. When I finally start posting drafts, all I get is feedback on the paper , and none on the actual ideas, which is what's really important. If you think they're ba...

Re: Ideas for new sample libraries
I don't think I am at all. In order to do the sample mangling I would like, certain features will have to be coded in. Those features are quite different than what's necessary for the microsample synthesis you guys are talking about. Though to be fair, microsample synthesis (look at me, I coined a b...

Re: Ideas for new sample libraries
And here I am, the exact opposite. I want a sampler that allows me new and different ways to tweak, mangle, and otherwise process samples to make new sounds. My big inspiration has been the videos on the Omnisphere from Spectrasonics. Other than that, though, I do want some more traditional function...

Re: A draft whitepaper of my parameterization idea
I'm just gonna say, "treat control signals the same as audio signals and allow DSP to work on them as well" and be done with it for now. I want to get back to my guitar amp simulator project. No more drafts for a while, if ever.

Re: Anechoic sampled instruments and reverberation
Well, it's a half-wall. Does that mean that it only half-counts towards my room's acoustics?
