Re: The Ideas Collection
Look, don't get discouraged by the things I've said. I haven't started anything about modelling a guitar amp yet. And even if that was the case, I still may be utterly wrong and you might find an extremely simple model that achieves stunning good results of your amp. So try what you think could do i...

Re: PS3 and LinuxSampler
Beside the PS3, there are currently two other products which come with cell processor(s). One is of course servers by IBM and the other one is PCI-X card wich can be used in normal PCs as well. BUT, both are damn expensive. IIRC you won't get any of those two products for lower than 6k USD. Having s...

Re: The Ideas Collection
The thing is, a completely discrete simulation must be at least possible within the computer, as there are real-time versions of Spice that can accept an input signal and process it. It's might not be efficient, but that would be the interesting problem to crack, right? It's a difference to have a ...

Re: The Ideas Collection
Yeah, that's the difficulty with analogue circuits. You cannot simply create a model of the components of the electronic circuit and then calculate the total model by adding the results of each components like most simulation software software do. Or let's say in theory you could, but the required d...

Re: PS3 and LinuxSampler
Looking at that code example, it seems to be easier to utilize the vector part of the cell processor than I thought it would. Probably when we finish real SMP support in LS this year, adding support for the cell processor's vector part might be not much work. But who nows...... advertising examples ...

Re: The Ideas Collection
Yeah I also thought about doing that. Because I also tried existing solutions and wasn't very impressed. I really would like to see my Boogie as virtual device one day as well, but in the meantime there's nothing better than the sound and smell of a real tube amp.

Re: Total Stream / voice count
ATM there's no "direct" way to enable / disable an instrument from a sampler channel, e.g. by simply clicking a "disable" button of one channel strip, but it would be easy to add, because that main functionality is already implemented in the engine. It is already used in the context of MIDI instrume...

Re: Welcome to the LinuxSampler Forum !
We often met there once in a while, so that was unoffically always the case. I just added a note about the IRC channel on the developers page of the LS website, so maybe it gets more populated in future.ccherrett wrote:Can we also get an irc channel on freenode :)linuxsampler is good to go on there!
