Flame Studio Guitars to Rock your World

Flame Studios has an awesome set of guitars they are giving away. http://www.flamestudios.org/free/GigaSamples This guy loves sampling and has some scripts to help with his sample creation. It would be wonderful if some more advanced scripters could get involved with him. He's really easy to talk to...

Re: Hydrogen

I've not seen python bindings for the richness of gig creation but you could always jump to C/C++ and do it from there. Might be a small learning curve and I understand that that this type of tool warrants a scripting lang. But we can't have everything we want can we?

Re: Orchestral libraries comparable to VSL?

Depends on what you want to do. There is no one-size-fits all orchestra. If you're wanting to do more modern music with strings I'd suggest the London Solo Strings by Big Fish Audio. Although the amount of articulations may be daunting with some patience and creativity you can produce amazing string...

Re: Optimised Flags

Seems to me there used to be a set of flags that allowed increase of polyphony and stream from disk/ram options. But I can't even seems to find them with Google as my friend. It's been over a year since I compiled my own but I missed these optimizations... It used to be right there in the compile do...

Re: Ideas for new sample libraries

Okay sorry for my long hiatus. A move, family, friends and new studio construction come first. I'm glad that I generated some interest with my previous longish post. Now I will attempt to address a few of the replies. Basically my whole point is that we need more sample than what is provided. Consul...

Re: Ideas for new sample libraries

I just listened to the violin you refer to. This is very similar to stuff I've heard from Big Fish and London Solo Strings. I think the Stratavari tops it but very good. Still what I'm looking for is a way for solo musician to participate in open source music by providing recordings of themselves pl...

Re: Ideas for new sample libraries

Sorry I've been away for a while as well. (Development keeping me busy and all.) I understand about applying modulations and synthesis and I certainly do not want to diminish for these demands in the spec for a new sampling engine. However, I'm coming at things from a classic sampler point of view. ...

1 Million Samples - not really a big number

After thinking about this for the past two months I'm finally ready to share my thoughts: To accurately represent a soloist and her instrument is one of the greatest challenges of sampling. Each sample voice must allow a full range of articulations. It's a bit daunting to think of 1 million little s...
