One other observation that may be relevant: I only experience the latency when playing SFZ instruments, not when playing GIG instruments. So I think it's probably in the engine, not the interface.

Sorry to resurrect an ancient thread, but was this ever resolved? I'm observing the same thing using the latest version on MacOS. The lag when playing notes is low enough that I can deal with it, but it's definitely perceptible. As a comparison I tried loading the same instrument in both LinuxSample...

I recently installed LinuxSampler on MacOS. I found the UI for Fantasia very confusing and hard to figure out. Thanks! That mostly fixes it for Fantasia. Now when I launch it I get the error message, "Connecting to LinuxSampler: Can't establish connection". But I also see a linuxsampler process appear in Activity Monitor. If I dismiss the error message, wait about ten seconds, and then click the Connect butt...

Failed to launch backend
I've installed LinuxSampler on Mac OS 10.14.6. When I launch Fantasia an error window appears with the message, "Failed to launch backend".
If I launch qsampler it gives a different but probably related error message: "Could not connect to server as client. Sorry."
