Yes, you hold it down and use the lower octave on the keyboard to turn things on and off. (These day, yeah, I think my HP is from 1994 or so
). I do have an el-cheapo MIDI keyboard sitting on top of it providing modulation and pitch wheel, but since I can't turn on Soft MIDI Thru in the HP it need a separate MIDI-interface (which is a complete and annoying waste of interfaces).
It also take up some space in my current studio set up so I'm glad to replace them both it with an Axiom or similar. The JX-10 I also have isn't mine, I just store it for a friend, so that's just a temporary part of my studio.
