gigedit installation on ubuntu 7.10

Hello!

I have a problem with installing gigedit. If I try to install the ".deb" from http://download.linuxsampler.org/packages/debian/ it fails with the comment "Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libflac7". I checked this and found libflac8 installed on my machine... What can (or must) I do? Is there a chance to get it run on my machine? Compile it from sourcecode myself? (I never made something like this before... :? )

Greetings,
Andi.

Andi,
Had the same problem when i started out with Gigedit, and installed libflac 7alongside 8, with no problems.
Keep us posted on your progress, and if you have further questions.
If you have problems trying to find LF7, here's a deb link.

Unfortunately your libflac8 is binary incompatible to libflac7 with which gigedit was compiled as in our precompiled Debian package.

It shouldn't be too hard to recompile the packages by yourself. Here's a HOWTO:

http://linuxsampler.org/debian.html

If something is unclear, let me know and I'll update it.

Hello!

Many thanks for your answers. I compiled the files as descibed in the HowTo and it seems to be working now. I only have to figure out now how gigedit is working... :)

Greetings,
Andi.
