no sound

Post by jpbonin » Tue Jan 07, 2014 2:36 am

Hey, I'm experimenting a few problems with jsampler-Fantasia.
(a) no sound. I can see the incoming midi signal on the keyboard, but no sound reaches the ouputs.
(b) the engine wont load any of my .gig files: ''Failed to load instrument''. It loads sf2 and sfz correctly (that is, with no sound!).
Funny thing is I used it before and it worked. Same computer, nothing changed. So I reinstalled LS, but no effect.

UbuntuStudio, 8GB ram, Focusrite Pro26, etc.

Someone has experimented the same problem?

JP

Have you checked that the audio out of linuxsampler is connected to the system playback? jsampler does not make the connection automatically.
As for the gig loading problem look at jsampler->Window->Backend log and look for error messages.

Connections to the system playback are ok. As for the gig problem the logs say

Code: Select all

'ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1401:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card. ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1401:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1401:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card
.
... of which I don't understand the purpose, given that I'm on jack.

You are on Jack.

That meanś that in jsampler your audio device is Jack?

Kind regards,
