Ubuntu Studio Alsa midi support

Post by janflorijn » Mon Jan 06, 2014 8:43 pm

Hi all,

I am glad to have linuxsampler and fantasia running in Ubuntu Studio.

Everything looks good, except one thing.

Linuxsampler comes with jack midi support.

I use jOrgan and this program works with alsa midi.

In patchage I can see both alsa and jack midi connections. I can not patch alsa with jack midi.

How to connect alsa midi to jack midi?

Kind regards,

JanFlorijn

To interconnect alsa/jack midi run "a2jmidid -e" which will create jack midi ports for all alsa midi ports, i.e. the alsa midi port will now be visible to jack midi and you can make connections using jack midi. I suggest just running a2jmidid whenever you start jack.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Indeed a2jmidid is the solution. I have read about this solution, butr I did not get it to work. But now I understand the way to use this. Just connect in jack midi a2j to linuxsampler.

Thanks,
