It won't let me set up audio or midi because Fantasia says I have no audio cards lol. I was using LS and Fantasia with Asio4all on my 1gig FD and had no problems. Well now and then the sound would break up, but I know I need to upgrade my puter. I'm going to do an Reaper uninstall and see what I get.

Oh, yes. Then that's a different matter. :(

Why not start with Ubuntu Studio which has everything installed apart from WINE to run Miditzer?

I might also add that I was wrong about ASIO4ALL which runs happily alongside ReaRoute. It's not much use but it's there!

Do you have a latency issue with Miditzer normally? If so, I'd hazard a guess that is your soundcard drivers that are slow.

I have another question for someone. I'm using the medium sized Miditzer and I'm at the limits of polyphony with the Windows version of LS. There is a larger model of Miditzer that I would like to use in the future.

Is there any chance that the Windows version will have it's polyphony increased to 400 or 500 (or more?)

Thanks
Graham

I never had any latency problems with MidiTzer & FS or LS. I would have tried Ubuntu Studio, but it is over 700mb won't fit on cdr.

Hi everyone

Just an update. I've installed 64 Studio without any major problems. I managed to install WINE and my Virtual Organ.

I connected everything with Jack and added JackRack for reverb as well.

It all works beautifully. The sound is much cleaner and more detailed than under Windows (on the same hardware).

The last thing I need to do to make this complete is convolution reverb. I will need to take the machine in to work so that my technician can help me. (He is linux specialist - I just teach ICT) I intend to try and install JConv and even after many readings I'm still in the dark about what I need to do. Hopefully it will all make sense to him.

Also, just a note that I am still streaming from a USB2 Flash drive with good results.

Cheers

Hi everyone.

Just thought I'd check in to say that I finally have jconv installed (boy did I learn a lot doing it!).

It works VERY well and makes the organ sound realistic (at last).

Now I have to get on to designing the MIDI encoders (I'm going to use the Arduino) and continue building the console.

Thanks everyone for your patience and help.

Regards
Graham

Hi - New to this forum. It looks like a great place!

I am seeking some help. I have Linux Sampler installed on an Windows XP box (quad core, 4 gig memory, etc.). I also have Reaper, Cakewalk Sonar and a Tascam USB US-224 Midi interface/asio sound card attached.

Reaper and Sonar have no problem working with the ASIO interface on the Tascam. They also can communicate with the Midi in/out channels on the Tascam with no problem.

However, I am unable to get Linux Sampler to do anything. It has installed fine with no problems. The LinuxSampler 0.5.1 backend starts and runs with no problems. The JSampler front end will allow me to load gig files, specify midi channels and sound output with no problems.

However, the big problem is that Linux Sampler simply does not work. It appears that it is either not responding to midi input or that it is not sending sound out. I have followed everything that was shown on this thread. Still nothing.

Help!!!

How are you sending MIDI to LS?

You could try with Bome's mouse keyboard http://www.bome.com/midi/keyboard/ and MidiYoke http://www.midiox.com/myoke.htm if you haven't already.

Forget about sound output for now and make sure you are getting MIDI into LS. Set up just one channel and a Midi device set to receive from MidiYoke 1. Set Bome's to output to MidiYoke1. JSampler will show the MIDI coming in (but I can't remember exactly where on the interface  ) Doing this will eliminate the soundcard MIDI input from the equation for now.

IF you get Jsampler to show a Midi response, try sending it's audio output to ReaRoute (as described earlier) and see if you get a response from the Reaper channel meters. If that's OK, send your Reaper output to the soundcard.

Cheers
Graham
