SoX and Loop metadata in WAV files

Post by Mike » Thu Jan 01, 2009 7:38 am

As a follow up to my post viewtopic.php?f=6&t=238 I finally got around to turning my collection of WAV samples into GIGs. After working out how to use SoX to merge all my mono left/right samples (I have no idea why they weren't packaged as stereo WAV files...) I discovered that the process doesn't preserve the loop metadata contained in the original files.

Can anyone fill me in on how and where loop metadata is stored in WAV files and how I might go about extracting or editing it (aside from using gigedit and entering every loop point manually)? Or better still has anyone used SoX or a similar program to convert mono l/r samples into stereo samples while preserving the loop markers? Thanks.
