Development news?

Post by Bennett » Thu Jun 03, 2010 3:07 pm

Is there any news on any new developments or releases for LinuxSampler?

The front page of the main website shows continued activity with the various projects, but the boards seem bereft of posts from the devs and such :?:

Please give us hope that LS is still alive and evolving into bigger and better things :D

I have the feeling the project is somehow on hold. Maybe donations are not as high as expected.

As the OP said, you can check out CVS activity at http://linuxsampler.org/ There is no more eloquent testimony of the development status than that, facts speak louder than words.

LS is a complex beast and a work of love. If you know anything about software development you can see there are thousands of hours of highly qualified work invested on it. It is natural that people get tangled in real life issues and can't devote all the time they would like to non-profit hobbies, so there will be times when developments will proceed slowly.

That's how things go in the OSS world. If you need some additional feature you can add it yourself or try to convince someone to do it for you (sponsoring uses to go a long way, as convincing arguments go. ;-) )

I have been testing nd providing feedback to the LS gusy regarding the new SFZ features. I am very pleased with the progress.
