LS and "freezing" tracks. Or how to automate persistence?

Post by jorcnw » Fri Feb 19, 2010 6:27 am

Hi, I'm using multiple instances of the LS VSTi. I have quite a number of instruments loaded using maps and they all need to be loaded in Persistent mode when I'm working. For whatever reason (it's something to do with persistent instruments), things go awry when I try to freeze a track. In reaper this is the Toggle FX Offline function. Instead of bugging anyone about this problem, I would like to be able to quickly unload all my instruments or rather change them all to On Demand mode so as to have them flushed from memory - this allows me to freeze the track and save the VSTi plugin settings. Of course, when I load the plugin back ("unfreeze") then I need a way to quickly set the instruments to Persistent mode again. (Yeah, I know I'll have to wait while they load)

Is there any way to do this at all? If it can be done via the command line or any other automation method then I will just write a Reaper plugin that will invoke this.

This functionality is the keystone in my studio setup!
