Re: Qtractor
Got a bit of sarcasm from some 'experienced' chap (some might say smartass) who didn't seem to understand the basic concept of multimidi per track, but it seems that ardour will be 1 channel per track. don't know who the smartass is, but here from lac2008@khm-köln, i've asked paul himself about thi...

Re: Qtractor
I'm using Jackdmp, which is multi thread. works well with my dual core amd. that's not the issue i'm afraid. jackdmp takes in fact advantage of multi-core/threading but that's only when you have paralell paths in your connection graph. it's no matter whether you're using jackd or or jackdmp: each c...

Re: Qtractor
Alex, In qjackctl, qtractor appears in the alsa midi tab, and i need to use a link utility called a2jmidid in order to route midi from QTR alsa midi to Linuxsampler Jack midi. Do you have plans to enable jack midi in QTR, so i can simply cable QTR to LS in the jack midi tab? Alternatively, can you c...

Re: Qtractor
A quick follow up to this. Although tracks in qtractor are single channel, the master devices are multi, so there's an opportunity here to use qtractor in a routing role as well. note that mono-channel semantics apply to midi tracks only. audio tracks are multi-channel by nature. another clarificat...

Re: Qtractor
thanks Alex, btw, your skilled and powers would be much appreciated in the form of a short tutorial, with sample midi material whether possible. lexridge, the guy who is putting up qtractor's user manual, has asked for help in this area, as he has no big acquaintance with midi stuff. just one of you...

Re: Qtractor
Just to correct something here so we don't have a misunderstanding. Multiple midi channels per track isn't a 'little' thing for me. It's a very big thing, and often the first thing i evaluate in a Daw. I spent too many years scrolling through single midi channel tracks, to want to go there again, f...

Re: Qtractor
I must stress at this point that Qtractor is not entirely absent from the workflow. I have a 'quickdraft' template of 16 midi channels i use to get ideas down quickly. Qtractor is in it's natural element here, and is fast for this type of work, imho. very good to know, really! it would be a very bi...

Re: Qtractor
Alex, I'm using Reaper for this, because it gives me 16 midi channels per track, and the option to set midi note to specified channel in the Midi Editor. so you can see when i use one track instead of 16, i not only reduce the track count, which cuts down on a lot of scrolling, but i can, for exampl...

Re: Qtractor
hi Alex, yes, 200+ tracks are a bit off my mark. but it is not that qtractor has any limitation on that, quite the contrary. or so I believe. what midi sequencer do you use anyway? is it reaper i guess? how does it manage with the so many hundred MIDI track/channels issue? what particular management...

Re: Qtractor
it's me, retarded as always i confess i've been absent here and that i'm not very found of forums, let alone my own :) anyway, i believe i've answered your questions over on http://www.rncbc.org/drupal/node/69 about the very same issues and, in fact, some of those have already been addressed (in cod...
