anyone successful using virtualbox and linuxsampler
I have a mac computer, and am trying to run linux in a virtual machine via virtualbox. Unfortunately, I have to run jack at slow settings to not get xruns, so the delay is unusable. My mac is quite fast, so shouldn't have problems with this. I want to run linuxsampler and openoctave, but openoctave ...

best sequencer for many articulation changes
Now that openoctave is no longer being worked on, which sequencer (linux or osx) is best for inserting many bank and program changes for a multitude of articulations? Also, how can I best get my lscp script to be converted into something a sequencer can read for bank and patch names?

Older Vienna Instrument libraries may be obtained
To anyone interested, Vienna Symphonic Library (VSL), is willing to allow license transfers for a fee of 72eur. I was able to purchase the older library along with the newer Special Edition from the original owner who no longer uses any of these (he is using SAM). VSL requires all products to be tra...

Re: Orchestral libraries comparable to VSL?
Alex, Thanks so much for all the excellent information and advice. I was wondering if you have a website up with samples of your music using the Sonic Implant strings. I would love to hear what you've done.

Re: Orchestral libraries comparable to VSL?
Alex, thanks for the suggestion. I've looked at their site, and listened to several demos -- they sound very comparable to me. I have a couple of questions which you may be able to answer. Does the complete Symphonic Collection contain each of the individual section libraries? Do they have a smaller...

Orchestral libraries comparable to VSL?
As most of us know, we can only get Vienna libraries in their new format. Which other libraries would be most comparable for orchestral stuff? I am currently converting a project that used Rosegarden, Linuxsampler, VSL, VSL Performance Tool, Ardour, and Jconv, to Logic and Vienna Instruments Special...

Re: Switching between instruments using Program Change messages
It is disappointing that students can't use the samples; however, the instructor will still be demonstrating the sounds for classes, so they will still be able to see what a great library of sounds VSL has recorded and edited. I'm going to head over to the forum section on sample libraries to see wh...

Re: Switching between instruments using Program Change messages
I need to make a correction on our school's purchase of Vienna Instruments so I don't mislead anyone. Our purchasing department was anxious for me to make this correction, so no one tries to do what I thought we did. Our school was trying to upgrade from VSL 1st edition (purchased in 2004, and befor...

Re: VSL Pro Ed. Complete
Our school is looking to replace our VSL sounds as Vienna has said that we cannot have multiple users according to the license agreement; this includes both VI and VSL sounds :( Only our instructor gets use of the sounds - lucky him! Anyway, would the GigaStudio Orchestra be somewhat comparable to V...
